The formula for fitness is pretty simple:

Eat good food + Get plenty of movement + Sleep like you’re getting paid for it = The body and health you desire

Of course, there can be some more variables thrown in the mix, like hormones and environmental toxicity, but for the most part it’s as simple as this.

Being that it’s so simple, why is it that so many people are struggling to have the body and health that they want? It’s not complicated to have what we want at first glance… but what makes it complicated is something far more mighty than the power of food or exercise.

What trumps everything is the power of your mind.

It’s the inner game that determines your outer game. It’s your mental and emotional fitness that truly determines your outer health and fitness. This is where the real shifts need to happen. And that’s what today’s show is all about.

  2. Shawn – Dude! Are you in my head?! Is the universe/God connecting us? I was literally just thinking that my training and health are pretty on point these days, I wonder what I could do to start working on strengthening the most difficult muscle, the mind. A very enlightened friend and I discussed this topic a while ago and I thought of him as I contemplated this thought this morning. Thank you so much for bringing this information to us with such amazing timing. If there are any other books, articles or podcasts that provide more information on this subject, please share them!

    On a side note, you are a pretty funny guy, but today both you and Jade killed it with various comments ranging from Yogi, Bugs, etc. Thanks for always injecting some goofy humor into your shows.

    1. Jeff, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate that! As far as books, shows, etc, there are just too many to name. All of them giving a small piece to my own personal perspective. I’ll just rattle some out here: The Power of Intention by Wayne Dyer, The Talent Code by Daniel Coyle, A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle, I’m loving my buddy Lewis Howes’ show The School of Greatness. Lots of game-changers about mindset and success there from some of the most successful people on the planet.

      There’s some great resources, and expect much more great stuff coming from my direction as well!

      1. Shawn, I figured that this was one of those questions where the answer involves opening floodgates. I definitely appreciate you providing such a quick response with some of your “highlights.” I am already all over Mr. Howes’ (in the house!) show. As far as Podcasts, I find that Tim Ferriss’ show and The Art of Charm do a good job of covering this topic as well, and are hosted by real, personable people like yourself.

        Can’t wait to see what else you bring to the table in the near future! Also, great job on The Good Dad podcast. I already have my twin brother hooked on both of these shows as well, so we can improve ourselves and our families together.
